HEAPS FOR SIO
Village Life for the SIO people
The Sio people who live in the remote coastal villages of Basakalo, Lambutina and Nambariwa of the Wasu 2&3 District, Tewai- Siassi area of the Morobe Province, invited HEAPS International Foundation to deliver a service to their people.
The Lambutina traditional owners allocated land for the village people to build the premises where HEAPS visiting advisers and trainers can stay. The village people went to the forest and cut down trees for build materials and collected sago palms for the roofing. By March 2011 there was a ceremonial opening. With stage 2 of the building completed by Christmas 2011.

The HEAPS song

Sio branch song when HEAPS first arrived
Zo Ngalae Kamo Ara Tia Kamo Kamo No
For so long now we the people of Sio, have been living the same lifestyle with problems affecting us.
Zo Ngalae karoto le kakae Tia Kamo katmo no
For so long, we the people of Sio have been searching and asking for help but without success and we still remain affected.
Kasamami tia kakae so kamo pama kasamami tia kasamami tia kamo lo kuma pama kamo
We do not know who you are and what assistance you are offering us
Nia tamatami HEAPS ngu kamo lo nia tamatami. Nia tamatami HEAPS ngu kamo kamorama kandeka no
You are strangers to us and you are now with us. We are very happy and grateful for whatever service you are offering us to improve our living standard.
