VILLAGE CLASSROOM DONATIONS

June 2024 is our 9th shipment of sea single containers to village schools in Papua New Guinea. This time we packed two 20ft sea-containers full of donations to classroom desks and chairs for the Central Province area.  These have been shipped from Fremantle Port to Melbourne, Singapore and onto Port Moresby.  HEAPS has now helped 42 marginalised schools mainly in the remote Sepik area.

Swire Shipping is the liner shipping unit of China Navigation Company for 6 years they provided HEAPS with the loan of sea containers and covered the sea freight costs which defrays a significant percentage of the project spending. For 8 years Storage King at the Perth Airport has partnered with HEAPS to help to make a difference. They allow donors to drop off their gifts which are stored in their sheds until they are full ready for shipping. Over the past 5 years MAP donation has paid for the remaining expenses with packing, loading, customs and immigration.

MAP funding, Storage King and Swire Shipping together, have remained the reliable backbone with this long term valuable project.

CHANGES START WITH EDUCATED CHILDREN

We work alongside local villages to provide school educational resources for their children in order to benefit their learning opportunities.

Our focus is on helping primary school children early in life, as long term education empowers a person to improve their socio-economic conditions for their families, villages and future generations.

GIRLS RECEIVING AN EDUCATION

A country can not succeeded if it has not educated its people. Not only is education important in reducing poverty, it is also a key to wealth creation.  Having literacy and numeracy skills is fundamental, our donated reading books and stationary from generous schools in Australia, assists with promoting good habits with reading and writing.

Supporting gender equality is necessary, where girls are encouraged to complete their education in order to succeed and make the best life choices which are the most realistic for them.

Providing women and girls with equal access to education, health care, decent work, and representation in political and economic decision-making processes will fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity at large. Equal gender is a fundamental human right.
